Understanding Scoliosis:
The spine naturally has gentle curves, but scoliosis causes an abnormal sideways curvature that can be S-shaped or C-shaped. This curvature can sometimes lead to:
- Uneven shoulders or hips: One shoulder blade may appear more prominent, or one hip may sit higher than the other.
- Rib cage prominence: The ribs on one side may protrude more noticeably.
- Back pain: As the spine curves, it can put strain on muscles and ligaments, leading to discomfort.
- Reduced lung capacity: In severe cases, scoliosis can affect lung function.
